Programme Overview
Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University (BVDU), Poona College of Pharmacy is a pioneer institute affiliated by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) offering a six-year integrated PharmD (Doctor of pharmacy) program as well as a three-year PB (post-baccalaureate) PharmD program.
PharmD students are fully integrated into the multi-disciplinary, multispecialty healthcare system of Bharati Hospital and Research Centre (BHRC), a 1000 bedded tertiary care multispecialty teaching hospital. The training programs of "Clerkship" and "Internship" provide pharmacy practice experience and sharpen professional pharmacy practice expertise. Interns may also receive training for a maximum of three months at other accredited facilities in India or elsewhere.
The department offers clinical training in the hospital that provides an exemplary training ground for practice-based pharmacy education, in providing patient-bedside care, ensuring patient-safety, optimising community health, facilitating regular team communication and collaboration.
The department has collaborative research activities with various medical departments of BHRC and other hospitals in and around Pune city. Such research activities have resulted in more than 200 publications and over 300 conference presentations at National and International platforms. The faculty are engaged in research and working on various research projects by AICTE and BVDU research fundings.
