Overview

Interactive Research School for Health Affairs (IRSHA) is a unique constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), totally dedicated to research. The institute was established in 2001. Late Dr Ulhas Wagh was the first Director. Dr P K Ranjekar succeeded him in 2006 and continued up to Dec 2014. Dr. AC Mishra has been the Director of the Institute since 2015.

The institute is mandated to conduct research in priority areas of human health in co-ordination with other constituents of the university like Medical, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Dental colleges, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of IT & BT, Environmental sciences etc. The core area of research includes Mother and child health, Cancer, Obesity-Diabetes, Herbal medicine and communicable diseases. The Institute has well-equipped research laboratories including BSL-3 facility.

IRSHA has a vibrant and robust full-time Ph.D. program. Many of the students receive fellowships from DST, ICMR and CSIR. The Institute has published about 300 papers in National and International Journals with high Impact Factor.

It has received competitive grants from almost all funding Agencies like DBT, ICMR, DST, Ayush and Wellcome Trust. The services of the Institute have been availed by many leading pharmaceutical industries. Due to their excellence in research, IRSHA scientists and students have received several honors and awards at national and international levels.
