Research

The Department of Pharmacology has a collaborative and innovative research environment. It is committed to conducting innovative research across a wide spectrum of areas including Ayurvedic medicines, Drug utilization studies, Clinical studies, Pharmacovigilance, Bioequivalence, and Education technology to improve drug development and human health.

The research labs are equipped with cutting-edge equipment to support our students’ research efforts. We have an enthusiastic faculty involved in animal & clinical research- self initiated & funded (ICMR, NIF, BVU).

Publications

The students and faculty members of the Department of Pharmacology have published more than 35 research papers in peer-reviewed indexed national and international journals in the last five years.

Collaborations and Consultancy

The Department of Pharmacology has tied up with several sister institutes of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University like College of Ayurved, College of Homeopathy, IRSHA, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Biotechnology, etc. to conduct collaborative research and drive excellence in research.

Drug Display – Pharmacology Museum 

The department is involved in animal as well as clinical research work involving collaborative interaction with different sister institutes as well as different departments of BVDU Medical College. The department has state-of-the-art equipment required for psychomotor and cardiovascular animal research.

Undergraduate students are also encouraged and guided for participating in research, including the ICMR STS research fellowships aimed at giving an orientation towards research to these students. This also helps them to strengthen their CV for future applications to postgraduate courses.

The department efficiently manages the Central Animal House Facility of the institution, which also caters to the requirements of some of the sister institutes. The faculty is actively involved in the Animal and Clinical Ethical Committees as well. It also heads the Clinical Pharmacology Unit of the institute housed in the step-down ICU of Bharati Hospital.

On the educational front, the department is well known for its disciplined, yet encouraging educational environment. It regularly holds co-curricular activities like seminars and quizzes. It has backed its students to win at the zonal and state-level quiz competitions. It boasts of its distinction ranks at the UG University examinations.

The faculty members are also actively involved in the Medical Education Unit of the institute. They focus on training the teachers to improve the teaching-learning activities and organize orientation programs for the undergraduates and postgraduate students.
