In the year 1990, we began our journey. We have developed our knowledge and skills in the field of paediatric curriculum and research over the last three decades. Some of the brightest brains in paediatrics have come from the department. The Department provides abundant chances for students to learn, explore, and acquire the experience, information, and skills they need to shape their careers and prosper in any environment.
The Pediatric ward and the accredited intensive care units are child-friendly, well equipped, and have excellent infrastructure with all the facilities under one roof. It caters to a wide spectrum and a vast number of pediatric referral populations from all over the state which facilitates learning. The major focus remains on the application of knowledge, whether at the bedside or in the clinic, through research, in rounds with medical students and residents, or during multidisciplinary meetings about patient care.
Our department has a distinguished record in both teaching and research. Faculty members have excellent academic credentials and are highly regarded. They have been conferred with many prestigious awards at the national and international levels. Several faculty members serve on the editorial boards of national and international journals and review technical articles for journals regularly.
We have a strong Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Post-doctoral program in Pediatrics. The course contents are periodically updated for introducing new scientific developments. The Department offers numerous post-doctoral fellowship courses under the auspices of the university and National academies for providing a wide spectrum of options to the students to pursue their interests. We also provide an opportunity to train overseas through collaboration with reputable institutions abroad through twinning programs to select meritorious postgraduates. Many of the department's programs are the most sought for and consistently rank high on the list amongst Postgraduate and Post-doctoral programs.
Our faculty and students are constantly encouraged to undertake research with funding from various intramural and other sources We have state-of-the-art research facilities to support our academic programs and for carrying out collaborative and interdisciplinary research of translational value which has helped improve the health of millions of children. This has also resulted in numerous publications in national and international journals of repute.
Our goal is to be at the forefront and the top, not only amongst academic medicine departments in our state but also in the country and abroad. I believe we are well on our way to attaining this goal.
