About Department

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was established in April 1991 with the aim to drive excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. It offers an excellent and dynamic learning environment and is committed to improving the lives of people.

Overview

The department has a state-of-the-art infrastructure with an OPD complex, a well-equipped operation theatre with CCTV arrangement, a labour room with all modern amenities, wards with 90 teaching beds, clinic rooms, a seminar room with an audio-visual projection facility, and a well-stocked library with internet facility. There is also a department office complex.

The department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate (MCI recognized Diploma & Degree) courses. Apart from routine clinical performances (diagnostic as well as operative), skill development programmes for postgraduates are encouraged with the help of models, mannequins, and a pelvic trainer.

There is adequate qualified teaching as well as non-teaching staff as per the MCI rules. All the teaching-learning technologies are made use of, including the PowerPoint presentations, seminars, integrated teaching for the UG and the PG students, and group discussions with the use of teaching models. Regular formative and summative evaluation is done for the students based on their feedback.

Our faculty members, as well as students, participate in the activities conducted by the institution as well as inter-collegiate quizzes, regional OBGY society, conferences (local, regional, national, and international), workshops, training courses, guest lectures, and a satellite relay for FOGSI conferences in the institution for faculty development.

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive medicine is committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach to women’s health care, clinical education and research. Our mission is to add value to our hospital, its medical college and our community for the benefit of our patients. We strive compassionate patient care, educational excellence and to create and expand knowledge of women’s health through basic and clinical research.

  • Consists of senior faculty members jelling with the junior faculty, resident doctors (JRs and SRs), interns and UG students
  • Senior members have the representation in the apex bodies such as POGS, AMOGS and FOGSI

  • The practical teaching for the post graduate students is blended with academics, clinical touch, and surgical skills with humanitarian approach.
