NSS

National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced in 1969 with the primary objective of developing the personality and character of the student youth through voluntary community service. ‘Education through Service’ is the purpose of the NSS. The ideological orientation of the NSS is inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Very appropriately, the motto of NSS is “NOT ME, BUT YOU”. An NSS volunteer places the ‘community’ before ‘self’.
Objectives of NSS:

NSS aims at developing the following qualities/ competencies among the volunteers:

a) To understand the community in which the NSS volunteers work and to understand themselves in relation to their community;

b) To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve themselves in problem-solving exercise;

c) To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility;

d) To utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems;

e) To gain skills in mobilizing community participation;

f) To acquire leadership qualities and democratic values;

g) To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters; and

h) To practice national integration and social harmony.

NSS attempts to establish meaningful linkages between ‘Campus and Community’, ‘College and Village’ and ‘Knowledge and Action’.

NSS EVENTS

1. Name of the Event - Awareness Program Cervical Cancer & HPV Vaccine

Description: The National Service Scheme (NSS) organized a comprehensive awareness program only for girls and all female faculty members on cervical cancer and the HPV vaccine to address the growing concern of cervical cancer incidence. Through educational sessions, awareness campaigns, and interactive workshops, the program aimed to inform individuals about cervical cancer risk factors, symptoms, and prevention strategies, emphasizing the importance of the HPV vaccine. As a result, the program saw increased awareness among participants, leading to improved uptake of the HPV vaccine and a reduction in stigma associated with cervical cancer. By empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health, the NSS program has made significant strides in combating cervical cancer and promoting preventive measures within the community. Ongoing efforts are crucial to sustain momentum and further reduce the burden of cervical cancer.

2. Name of the Event: Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye

Description:The "Mera Pehla Vote" campaign targeted first-time voters to raise awareness and encourage participation in the democratic process. The campaign aimed to inform and empower young voters through digital outreach, educational workshops, and collaborations with local organizations. Voter registration drives and information dissemination efforts resulted in increased voter registrations and informed decision-making. Social media engagement with hashtags like #MeraPehlaVote sparked conversations and generated user-generated content. Over 50 educational workshops reached thousands of students, fostering a culture of active citizenship. Inclusivity was ensured through materials in multiple languages and outreach to marginalized communities. The campaign successfully contributed to increased voter turnout and civic participation among youth. Moving forward, sustained efforts are necessary to amplify the voices of young voters and shape the future of the nation's democracy.

3.Name of the Event: Telecom Cyber Security & EMF Awareness Program Report

Description: Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computer systems, networks, and data from digital attacks, theft, and damage. It involves implementing measures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

Telecom involves transmitting information over networks, while cybersecurity safeguards against unauthorized access and threats in the digital realm, ensuring the integrity of communication systems and managing EMF exposure is a key consideration in telecom planning and regulation. Electromagnetic fields are widely applied in technologies such as wireless communication, where they facilitate the transmission of signals, and in power generation, where they play a crucial role in electric power distribution systems. Cyber-attacks involve unauthorized access or disruption of computer systems, networks, or data, often with malicious intent, posing threats to information security and privacy.

4. Name of the Event: Road Safety Awareness Program

Description: The Road Safety Awareness Program conducted by NSS aimed to educate the community on safe driving practices and prevent road accidents. It included workshops, street plays, and awareness campaigns to disseminate information on traffic rules and defensive driving. Collaboration with local authorities and organizations enhanced the program's reach and impact. Mock drills were conducted to demonstrate emergency preparedness and intervention techniques.
