Dr. Patangrao Kadam, the founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth, established Poona College of Pharmacy in 1981 after realizing the need to train students in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Poona College of Pharmacy is a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University). The institute is a pioneer in the field of Pharmacy education and research in the state of Maharashtra.

Under the dynamic guidance of Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, then Principal and present Chancellor of the University, the college has developed academic excellence and attained status of one of the reputed Pharmacy colleges in the country. A testimony to the high academic excellence of the Poona College of Pharmacy is its rank in top 30 Pharmacy institutes by NIRF, accredited by NAAC and NBA for three and four cycles respectively. It has recognition by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Sections 2(f) and 12(B). Poona College of Pharmacy offers quality education in Pharmacy through its pioneer B.Pharm. programme (Grant-in-aid institute of State of Maharashtra); its first to start Pharm.D, Pharm.D (PB) in state of Maharashtra since 2009; M.Pharm in eight specializations and doctoral research programmers. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi has approved all of the degrees offered by the college.

A testimony to the high academic excellence of the Poona College of Pharmacy is the approval by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and the recognition by the University Grants Commission under Sections 2(f) and 12(B).

  • Accredited by both NBA and NAAC and has achieved the coveted “A+” Grade and also an ISO-9001-2015 certified institute.
  • Reputed research institute for PG and PhD research with 1500 + published articles, 50+ patents, and consultancy.
  • University Grants Commission inducted the college in the Departmental Research Scheme (DRS) of the Special Assistance Programme (SAP) of UGC due to the expert faculty, research achievements, high level of academic excellence and rich infrastructure.
  • AICTE granted the college the status of Quality Improvement Cell (Q.I.P.) for teaching fraternity to register for the M.Pharm. And Ph.D. programmes.
  • The college has also received regular grants from major funding agencies such as AICTE, UGC, DST, DBT and DRDO.
  • Annexed facilities includes FDA approved Public Testing Lab; APEDA recognized Centre for Food Testing (CFT) and SKiiLD PCP incubation center
  • Provides financial assistance for economically weaker and meritorious UG and PG students and PhD research for selected students.
