The main mission of PTL is to be of assistance to the industries involved in chemicals and instrumental analysis and microbial testing. The major objective of this testing unit is to inculcate an industrial atmosphere among students for the manufacturing and testing of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, received from various small scale industries in and around Pune.
In spite of the focus on both theoretical and lab based learning in the current teaching methods of the Pharmacy sector, many students miss out on the real practical learning part of it. This is of paramount importance for a better understanding of the subject. The students should be exposed to handling of analytical equipment and procedures to develop their skills and this can be done through testing real samples from industries. The students can gather valuable practical skills by analyzing the samples received from industries located in and around Pune at this public testing laboratory.
Test samples are received from various small scale industries for testing. All tests are carried out as per the standard procedures and even the reporting is done on the format prescribed by D & C act. Detailed reports are well documented from the very beginning as per FDA regulations. Students in small batches are regularly trained at the PTL. The training is not restricted to only handling equipment and testing pharmaceutics but also includes documentation which is important too.
