About Department

The department of Neurology was started on 01 Jan 2014. Before its inception neurology care was provided by internal medicine faculty with the help of part-time visiting neurology faculty. The neuro-electrophysiology laboratory was already in existence and was supervised by the Pediatric Neurology faculty. Once department became functional state of art neurology patient care, undergraduate and post graduate teaching and training of paramedical staff started in real earnest. The new department has streamlined the Outpatient, Inpatient admissions, and record maintenance. Founded in 2014, the department has full time professor, Associate professor, Assistant professor, senior resident and rotatory residents from internal medicine and Psychiatry and research fellows.

Goals

“To harmonize clinical care, research and teaching to improve the field of neurology and neurological health in Maharashtra Region”

  • To establish a tertiary care neurosciences center to provide comprehensive neurology care consisting of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Neurology, Neuroanaesthesia, Neuro Critical Care, Neuropathology and Neuropsychiatry and many more subdivisions.
  • To motivate, sensitize and create interest in neurosciences in the young minds and develop competent clinical and basic science neuroscientists.
  • To develop the neurology workforce, to innovate neurology care and deliver to the needy neurology clientele.
  • To plan acquire and organize resources to meet the future needs for patient care.
  • Accelerate neurological research through leadership, innovation, and collaboration. To participate in National and International neuroscience research activities and to become a nodal center for ICMR Research activities in Neuroscience in the state of Maharashtra.
  • Inculcate a cultural shift toward an open, welcoming and nurturing environment for patients, families, faculty and staff.
