Collaboration & Consultancy

The department in collaboration with emergency medicine departments of other medical colleges and hospitals undertakes regular training classes and monthly meetings. These academic activities are very popular. Efforts are on to introduce inter-college student exchange with other local institutes so that residents can learn and observe best practices from other institutes.

Patient care

The department has a state of the art thirty bedded ward which has eight trolley beds, four ICU beds, and two isolation beds, in addition to sixteen high dependency beds. All beds have oxygen, suction and monitoring capabilities. There is one major operation theatre, one minor operation theatre and one procedure room within the ward.

The ward is divided into three zones for efficient management of patients
  • Red Zone – For Critically ill patient
  • Yellow Zone – Stabilized Patient
  • Green Zone – Preparing for discharge from EMD To be able to achieve early diagnosis leading to prompt treatment, the ward has the following equipment in-house for point of care investigations.
  • Glucometer for blood sugar estimation.
  • ECG machine
  • Portable X-Ray
  • Portable ultrasound machine
  • Arterial blood gases The department also looks after the ambulance services. Trained manpower accompanies the ambulance on retrieval and transfer facilities. Mortuary services are also looked after by the department. To help patients below the poverty line, all major government schemas are provided to the deserving patients.
