Programme Overview

The MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, (MDS OMFS) is of three years of duration with the focus on Faciomaxillary Surgery. It is one of the nine branches that is offered in the dentistry courses and students get to learn about the problems related to the jaws, mouth and temporomandibular joint.

Programme Outcomes

  • icon Understanding of general surgical principles - Students are expected to understand the surgical principles like pre and post-surgical management, fluid and electrolyte management, blood transfusion and post-surgical pain management.
  • icon Inculcation of Human Values - Carry out the profession with full integrity and provide care to the patients irrespective of their caste, colour and creed.
  • icon Skills Required - After examining the patient, one needs to have a thorough knowledge about the infection control measures and be well versed with sterilization process.
