Activities/Program Details |
The BVDU School of Physiotherapy, Pune, organised a comprehensive World Stroke
Day 2025 program,
featuring a Walkathon for stroke patients and their caregivers, followed by a
Multidisciplinary
Panel Discussion for final-year students and interns. 16 stroke survivors and
caregivers assisted by
1st and 2nd year physiotherapy students walked from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Putala to the
Ayurvedic College, BVDU Dhankawadi Campus. Participants showcased remarkable
enthusiasm, resilience,
and determination, demonstrating the positive impact of physiotherapy on
functional recovery. This
activity strengthened patient motivation, promoted physical activity, and
enhanced the social
participation of stroke patients.
The panel discussion was organised for final-year students and interns at the
School of
Physiotherapy. The distinguished panel involved Dr. S. P. Gorthi, HOD,
Neurology, BHRC; Dr. Anand
Doshi, Neurosurgeon, BHRC; Dr. Archana Ranade, Neuro-physiotherapist, Deenanath
Mangeshkar Hospital;
Dr. Aarti Waknis, Principal, BVDU SASLP and Dr. Uma Dalvi, Psychologist, BHRC.
The session was
moderated by Dr. Swati Bhise, Principal, BVDU School of Physiotherapy. The
discussion covered a vast
array of topics such as Basics and advances in stroke management, Surgical
considerations in stroke
management, Rehabilitation strategies and goals, Speech and swallowing concerns,
psychological
challenges and caregiver burnout and long-term outcomes in Stroke Survivors. The
session
significantly enriched students’ understanding of comprehensive stroke care,
integrating medical,
surgical, psychological, and rehabilitative perspectives
