FDP report on Satellite Communication

Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of Bharati Vidyapeeth(Deemed to be University) College of Engineering-Pune had organized 5 days faculty development program on Satellite Communications during 6th January 2020 to 10th January 2020. Department have fully equipped lab with instruments like:-

  • SCIENTECH 2272A- Satellite Communication Trainer Kit with Audio-Video Trans-Reciever
  • SCIENTECH-2266- Transmission Line Analysis Kit
  • Digital Satellite Communication Trainer Kit
  • Antenna Testing Assembly
  • Personal Computer
  • DSO
  • RF Power Meter etc.

We had expert faculty from Scientech ;Mr. Anand Pawar as Instructor for whole duration of workshop. First day (6th January 2020) of FDP was focused on fundamental principles in satellite communication and concepts like Uplink -Downlink frequency, power Budget, Trans-receiver etc. Transmission line, antenna fundamentals and different antenna types were studied in hands on session to understand importance of high gain of dish antenna and its significance in satellite communication on day 2 i.e. 7th January 2020. An audio-video analog transmission and reception using Satellite training kit was demonstrated on 8th January 2020 (Day 3) using SCIENTEC 2272A Satellite Communication trainer kit. A high speed digital data transmission was studied 9th January 2020 (Day 4) for which Digital satellite trainer kit is used which can interface with PC for visualization. A great accuracy of satellite communication was observed comparing trans-reception by LAN cables. On last day- 10th January 2020 (Day 5) Hands on training of Transponder was conducted followed by Q&A.
