Graduate of the University of Cinema and Television in Munich | Professor at the
Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg
Born in Germany, Lutz was raised in Italy, where he discovered his first love:
photography. After turning to cinema, he collaborated on over a hundred fiction and
documentary productions, gathering ample work experience as a director,
cinematographer, script consultant and producer.
Lutz is a multiple German National Awards winner for both cinema and TV in the
categories of directing and cinematography. In 2020, he presided over the International
Jury of the Pune International Film Festival, having received numerous accolades
worldwide, from Amsterdam and Madrid to Hong Kong and Mumbai. Notably, he was
the cinematographer and producer of Indian filmmaker Farida Pacha’s award-winning
documentaries My Name is Salt and Watch Over Me.
Alongside his career in the film industry, Lutz has developed a lifelong passion for
education. He is a founding faculty member at one of the world's most renowned film
schools, the Filmakademie in Ludwigsburg, Germany. He also conducted
masterclasses in Zurich, Doha, Jeddah, Edinburgh, Dubai, Tirana, Panjim and Imphal.
After spending several years in Mumbai and New Delhi, Lutz relocated with his family to
Pune, where he joined BVSP in 2025.
