About Department

Established in 2010-11, the Department of Periodontology deals with the preventive and corrective measures in the management of gingival and periodontal diseases.

The department has separate undergraduate and postgraduate sections equipped with modern dental chairs. Some of the various facilities available in the department are the advanced surgical equipment like piezoelectric surgical unit, microsurgical unit, electrocautery unit, centrifuge to procure PRF, dental implant surgical kit and 10 watts advanced soft tissue laser.

Motto

The motto of the department is to promote and engage in excellence in teaching and learning, research and creative activities, patient centered care, civic engagement and professional/community service that will advance the oral/periodontal health as well as the overall health of the people of the Sangli and Miraj.

  • A fully-developed under-graduate and post-graduate section with total 46 electronic dental chairs for ease and comfort.
  • A separate sterilization room for undergraduate and postgraduate clinic.
  • Well-equipped laboratory and clinical compartments for PG students.
  • Well-equipped departmental library with total of 75 books.
  • A separate seminar room for daily case presentations, seminars and journal clubs.
  • The department has well equipped implant clinic with physio-dispenser, 10-watt laser unit and piezosurgery unit, RVG unit and intra-oral camera for documentation of cases.

2021-22

  • Dr. Rachana Agarwal got a consolation prize in the scientific presentation at the 45th ISP national conference (virtual), Pune, 21st-23rd Oct 2021
  • Dr. Rachana Agarwal got the best paper presentation in the case report category at the 20th ISP Postgraduate Convention, Chandigarh, 22nd-24th April 2022
  • Dr. Rachana Agarwal scored the highest marks in Part- 1 (MDS-Basic science university examinations), 2021
  • Dr. Anuja Jagtap got a consolation prize in the scientific presentation at the 45th ISP national conference (virtual), Pune, 21st-23rd Oct 2021
  • Dr. Nitin Gorwade got the best paper prize for inflammatory fibro-epithelial hyperplasia with two variants – A report of 3 cases at 11th I.S.P. postgraduate convention - Lucknow.

2019

  • Dr. Alok Singh Badoria got First Prize in Paper Presentation at Periovista, Mumbai 2019.
  • Dr. Smruti Lulla got 2nd prize in Paper Presentation at 44th National Conference of Indian Society of Periodontology at Bengaluru on 8th November 2019.
  • Dr. Sandeep Patil got Consolation Prize in Paper Presentation at 44th National Conference of Indian Society of Periodontology at Bengaluru on 8th November 2019.
  • Dr. Priyanka Lavate got Consolation Prize in Paper Presentation at 44th national Conference of Indian Society of Periodontology at Bengaluru on 8th November 2019.
