Students of Class IX from Orbis School, Pune visited the Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education and Research (BVIEER), Pune, for an immersive learning programme aimed at promoting environmental awareness, spatial thinking, and sustainability. The programme commenced with a guided nature trail through the BVIEER campus, where students explored the institute's rich biodiversity. To make the experience interactive, they participated in a Nature Bingo activity and a wildlife quiz, encouraging them to observe, identify, and appreciate the diversity of flora and fauna in their surroundings. Students were then introduced to the concept of spatial thinking through engaging activities, including the interpretation of satellite images, helping them understand how geospatial technologies can be used to observe landscapes, identify patterns, and study changes. The visit concluded with a session on carbon footprint assessment, where students calculated their individual carbon footprints and discussed practical ways to reduce their environmental impact through sustainable lifestyle choices. The visit enabled students to connect classroom concepts with real-world environmental challenges through immersive, hands-on learning experiences.
