Congratulations to Shri Vivek Menon on an extraordinary global milestone

Congratulations to Shri Vivek Menon on an extraordinary global milestone!

Vivek Menon, Founder-Trustee of the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), has been elected as the Chair of the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) for 2025–2029 at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi—becoming the first Asian in 75 years to lead this globally influential body. The SSC is one of the world’s most powerful conservation networks, driving species recovery, Red List assessments, science-policy integration and on-ground action across more than 160 countries. As a key partner in our M.Sc. Wildlife Conservation Action programme, WTI has played a transformative role in bridging world-class conservation practice with academic excellence.

Vivek Menon’s leadership amplifies this impact on the global stage. We are honoured to be associated with WTI and deeply inspired by this recognition of their visionary leadership.

Warmest congratulations to Vivek Menon and the entire WTI team!

This achievement elevates India’s role in shaping the future of global biodiversity conservation.
