Shaping Sustainable Futures: National Consultative Meet at BVIEER
The Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education and Research (BVIEER), Pune hosted a two-day National Consultative Meet on Integrating and Implementing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED) in School Curricula on 10–11 March 2026.
Bringing together State and UT Nodal Officers for SDG 4.7 from across India—including Mizoram, Meghalaya, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Haryana, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Sikkim, and Puducherry—the meet served as an important platform for sharing Mission LiFE initiatives and state-level action plans for integrating ESD and GCED into school education.
As the host institution, BVIEER played a key role in facilitating dialogue on how sustainability and global citizenship can be meaningfully embedded into curricula. The discussions were enriched by experts and resource persons, including Dr. Shamita Kumar, Principal, BVIEER, along with Anjum Sibia, Anupam Ahuja, Ashita Raveendran, Vandana Punnakal, David Lal, P. D. Subhash, K. V. Sridevi, Jubilee Padmanabhan, Arun Bias, and Susan Sukanya.
The meet was coordinated by Ashita Raveendran and P. D. Subhash from the Planning and Monitoring Division, NCERT , under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It reinforced a shared national commitment to advancing NEP 2020 and SDG 4.7, with a focus on nurturing responsible, informed, and future-ready global citizens.
