About Department

The department of Oral Medicine, Diagnosis and Radiology at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed university dental college was established in the year 2007. This speciality is combination of Oral Medicine and Oral Radiology.

Oral Medicine is the bridge between the general medicine and dentistry. The speciality includes the patient care, teaching and research involving diagnosis and nonsurgical management of diseases of the orofacial region and systemic and behavioral disorders that impact oral health including Orofacial pain and temporomandibular joint disorders, oral mucosal diseases, oral malignancies and complications related to its therapy, salivary gland disorders, dental management of medically compromised patients and patients with disabilities. Department maintains a separate special cases register of oral diseases and follow ups. We do the special cases reporting for the publication in the prestigious journals of the subject as well as IDA publications and so on to the foreign journals.

Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology deals with the acquisition and interpretation of radiographs which aids in the diagnosis and treatment plan for conditions affecting the maxillofacial region.

To keep updating ourselves in the field of Oral Medicine and Radiology and to develop the appropriate attitude in the students as an Oral & Maxillofacial diagnostician as well as alertness and thoroughness with respect to ethics and research.

To Promote and facilitate the research activities which will transform the nature of diagnosis and treatment of Oral and paraoral diseases

KEY FEATURES


  • Protocol established for Clinical and Administrative matters.
  • Autoclaved instruments used for every patient and Universal infection control measures are followed during all clinical procedures.
  • Adequate radiation safety measures including the use of Lead Apron, lead partitions are adopted by operators as well as for patient during radiographic evaluation.
  • Total radiation absorption dose estimated every three months by use of TLD badges for all staff members (faculty and technician) who are exposed to radiation.
  • To be able to improve the performance of the students the following remedial measures are being taken
  • Extra classes, Lectures, Discussions, Seminars, Radiographic interpretations, Revisions, Special class for conduction of university examination.
  • Department has library with 41 books for the reference.
  • Seminar room is equipped with the LCD projector with the desk top.
  • Department also have intraoral camera, digital pulp testers and sialography kit.
