About Department

The Department of Public Health Dentistry offers extensive orientation and training modules for the students to acquire the art of estimation and resolution of community-related oral diseases, needs and unmet demands.

The identification of underserved and with maximum dental treatment needs are identified through extensive outreach programs. State-of-the-art dental chairs and other necessary equipment are available in the department to help render the best comprehensive treatments that range from preventive to palliative care. The patients will be able to understand the various common dental diseases, their etiology and prevention of the same through a well-maintained dental museum. The knowledge is provided at the museum through digital displays, working models and posters.

An integral part of the department is the fully functional Tobacco Cessation Centre (TCC) that aims to identify, educate and help quit the tobacco habit more scientifically. The state-of-the-art Carbon Monoxide (CO) monitor is used to identify the CO levels among smokers and to make them aware of the exposure of the same.

Highlights
  • The department has a well-equipped mobile dental bus with two fully functional dental chairs with all attachments, generator and A.C. with seating capacity for 15 doctors.
  • The Department regulates two Satellite Clinic at Sangalwadi and Turchi-fata with well-equipped dental chairs.
  • Tobacco Cessation Centre (TCC), a unit of the department is fully functional according to DCI guidelines.
  • Department organizes regular dental check-up camps at rural sectors, schools and slum areas.
  • Department co-ordinates with various NSS activities.
  • Department supports the research activities by providing various in-house services to UG, PG students and faculty members such as statistical consultancy and publication assistance.

Awards & Achievements

  • Dr. Tanushri Dalvi was awarded with “Best Outgoing Post-Graduate Student” in the specialty of Public Health Dentistry in RGUHS Examination for the year 2018.
  • Dr. Tanushri Dalvi received Best Paper Award at 24th National Conference of the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry held at Hyderabad in November 2019.
