Overview

Established in February 1989, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College, Pune is renowned for its academic excellence and infrastructural facilities. It was initially affiliated with the University of Pune.Later, it became a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in April 1996.

Spread over 25 acres of land, the lush green BVDU Medical College is located on the main Pune – Satara Road in the southern part of Pune city about 5 km away from Swargate (one of the major bus terminuses in the city).

Enriching Academic Programmes

Our medical college, offers undergraduate programmes, postgraduate programmes, doctoral programmes, diploma programmes, and super specialty (DM, M.Ch) programmes. In addition, post-doctoral fellowships, numerous short-term courses, fellowship certificate courses, and some need-based programmes are also available.

Dynamic Academic Environment

The college has an excellent student-friendly teaching-learning environment. The on-campus hospital not only provides clinical training to the undergraduate and postgraduate students but also caters to the medical needs of a large segment of the population of East Pune as well as the poor and needy patients of the surrounding rural areas.

Accreditations and Achievement

Bharati Hospital & Research Centre, Pune, and its Infection Control Committee, Ethics Committee, Blood Bank, and Emergency Medicine department have been accredited by the NABH. Besides, the clinical laboratories have earned the NABL accreditation. Bharati Hospital has also achieved an A+ grade from the Government of Maharashtra under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (Formerly - Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana).

Approval and Recognition

The medical college and the attached hospital have been approved as a ‘Centre of Excellence for Mother and Child Health & Eclampsia’ by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi.

The medical college and the degrees it offers have also been recognized by the Medical Council of India. Besides, the college is listed in the World Health Organization’s directory of recognized medical institutions. The students of this college are eligible to appear for USMLE and PLAB examinations.
