About Department

The Department of Orthopaedics was established in 1993 with the aim to cater to a variety of orthopaedic problems and provide trauma services.

Overview

We have a competent Trauma Team committed to handling all types of trauma, including complex pelvic and acetabula injuries. We also have specialist surgeons who are experienced in performing Spine surgeries and Endoscopic Spine surgeries, Arthroscopic hip, knee, and shoulder surgeries, Joint Replacement surgeries, Pediatric Orthopaedic surgeries, and Deformity Correction.

In 1995, Dr. Vilas Jog became the HOD of the department. The postgraduate courses in Orthopaedics started from 2010 onwards. The number of PG seats is being increased to 10 every year. Over the years, more than 100 PG students have been trained in Orthopaedic surgery. Currently, the department has 120 beds distributed in 13 and 14 wards and three Orthopaedic teaching units. It is now headed by Dr. (Maj Gen) Gururaj Ramchandra Joshi (Rt’d).

The endeavor of the department is to empower the students with knowledge and clinical skills effectively to diagnose ,treat the orthopedic diseases, Trauma and related disabilities in patients and aim to rehabilitate them to their pre disability functional status.

To educated Students in professional ethics ,kind and humane attitude towards the patients. And to develop an interest towards the research and up gradation of knowledge.
