About Department

The Department of Pathology at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University Medical College, Pune was founded in 1991. It is committed to delivering services of the highest order and driving excellence in education and research.

It is a recognised UG and PG teaching institute. It has various working domains comprising Hematology, Histopathology, Cytopathology, Clinical Pathology, and Molecular Pathology. Pathology plays an important role in making of a competitive doctor. It is the science of the cause & effect of the disease & most of the diagnosis in practice cannot be made without the pathology tests.

Teaching-Learning Activities

  • Didactic lectures, small group discussions, DOAP, SGD, and SDL.
  • Research activities – ICMR.
  • Seminars, journal club meetings, slide discussions, grossing, and research projects.

Academic Infrastructure

Our pathology department has a state-of-the-art infrastructure. It has well-equipped research labs, a well-planned museum with charts and models, and a PG library with a rich collection of reference textbooks and journals.

Research

Our Services

  • Clinical division for providing expertise on diagnostic support to Bharati Hospital
  • Academic division for teaching and training for II MBBS undergraduate students, postgraduate students for MD & DCP, and paramedical teaching for DMLT and B Sc Nursing programmes
  • Department of Transfusion Medicine for the hospital and training in transfusion medicine and immunohematology.
  • Research at the UG and PG level and in collaboration with other college departments and IRSHA.
  • Hospital services are provided
  • Central laboratory services are rendered round the clock which includes routine as well specialized tests.

  • Providing accurate and reliable laboratory results for patient management 24x7. 
  • Participating in external quality assurance programs on a regular basis in Hematology, Histopathology, Cytopathology, and Clinical Pathology domains. 
  • Running fellowship program in diagnostic hematology. 
  • Interdepartmental consultations for patient management. For example, tumor board meetings and clinicopathological meetings.
