Moot Court Society

The genesis of the Moot Court Society lies in the quest for upholding the benchmark of excellence that we have set for ourselves. The Moot Court Society is entrusted with facilitating mooting activity in college. International- National and in-house moot courts and Trial Advocacy competitions are organized by the Moot Court Society. Students are encouraged to participate and represent the college in various competitions. Introductory sessions on mooting are held for novice and optimum training and guidance is given by the faculty, senior students and experts in the different fields of law to the teams participating in the national international moot court competitions. Following moot court and trial Advocacy Competitions are organized in the college:

1. Justice P.N Bhagwati International Moot Court Competition on Human Rights

2. Surana and Surana National Trial Advocacy Competition

3. Intra- College Moot Court competition for first and second year students.

4. Intra- College Moot Court competition for Third, Fourth and Final year students.

5. Selection Rounds for selecting teams for representing college in National and International competitions.

 

Workshops on Mooting Skills

Another prominent feature of the moot court society is conducting Workshops on mooting skills on regular basis. During the workshops students, especially the fresher are engaged into the activity of problem solving, mock trials and mooting competitions. The workshops are designed to suit the understanding levels of the target audience and are held throughout the year to ensure consistency and gradual grooming. Each workshop put together involves separate modules dealing with definite facets of the skills, such as ‘Effective use of Language’, ‘Fundamentals of Public Speaking’, Fact Management, data structuring and Framing contentions and tools to refute arguments. Student’s acknowledge the workshops to be very effective in giving practical training and these workshops and participate in these with over whelming response.

 

Intra college moot court competition

Intra college moot court competition for FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD YEAR BA.LL.B 5 (YEAR) AND BB.A LL.B AND LL.B 3 YEAR was held on 23rd Sep 2017.The moot problem was based on “Law of Torts.” 84 teams participated in the competition which was conducted in Three Rounds –Preliminary, Semi-Final and Final Round.The Final round was judged by Dr.Mukund Sarda, Dr.U.S. Bendale and Adv. Rajendra Anbhule
