If you are seeking a dynamic and challenging career that allows you to help people, achieve personal growth, community respect, job flexibility, financial success and offer virtually unlimited opportunities in the field of eye care, you have come to the right place.

‘Sight’ is one of our most precious gifts and an optometrist, a primary eye care professional is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of this gift. The optometrist through rigorous academic and clinical teaching is trained to examine and diagnose eye disorders, prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, low vision devices and vision therapy.

Optometry is a constantly evolving profession and its scope is broadening each passing day. Optometrists can practice in rural as well as urban areas. Some have individual practices or work with other healthcare professionals, while others choose a career in public health, multinational companies or government services. Still others choose career at hospitals, clinics and teaching institutes.

Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) is an institution with a difference. It is an organization with social commitment and a distinct philosophy. We consider education as an instrument of social change and so the official motto of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) is “Social Transformation through dynamic education”. It has always been our endeavour to provide updated quality education to our students. Our aim is not only to produce well-trained manpower needed for the eye care need of society but also train our students to be responsible and civilized citizens of the country.

We are also the first in India to start a postgraduate course in Optometry. Being a part of the university that offers 32 different disciplines, School of Optometry is in an envious position to benefit from the integrated multidisciplinary healthcare programmes.

At the School of Optometry, we believe in overall growth of our students. Hence, we give significant importance to extracurricular activities such as vision screening programmes, eye donation programmes, interactions with industries, quizzes, sports and cultural events, etc.
