Overview

Established in May 2003, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of IT and Biotechnology, a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune aims to contribute to the promising and emerging area of biological sciences by imparting quality education and providing an excellent research environment through its ongoing programmes. Students of the institute are trained to become competent and motivated graduates.

The major thrust of the institute includes biochemical sciences, microbial biotechnology, plant biotechnology, animal cell culture, medical biotechnology and computational biology.

The programmes offered by the institute are:

  • B.Sc. in Biotechnology (3 Years) – Established in 2003
  • M.Sc. in Biotechnology (2 Years) – Established in 2005
  • Advanced Diploma in Bioinformatics (ADB) – Established in 2008
  • M.Sc. Bioinformatics – Established in 2010
  • M.Sc. Medical Biotechnology – Established in 2012

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of IT and Biotechnology offers an impressive infrastructure with state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms and qualified faculty from diverse streams and specializations. To support the ongoing teaching and research initiatives, the institute has developed research facilities and infrastructure, including the establishment of research laboratories in all the thrust areas.
