Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Challenges and Way Ahead in Audiology Speech Language Pathology Programs’
BV(DU) School of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology organized a faculty development program on 31st March 2023, 3rd April 2023 and 4th April 2023. The program was conceptualized and coordinated by Dr. C.S. Vanaja, Dr. Aarti Waknis and Dr. Piyush Sone. The workshop was attended by all the teaching and non-teaching staff of BV(DU) SASLP).

Dr. B. Rajshekhar, Founder Dean and Adviser, Allied Health Sciences and Professor Audiology & SLP, Manipal Academy of Higher Education gave an encouraging lecture about passion and performance.
Dr. Aarti Waknis, Professor and HOD, Department of Speech Language Pathology, BV(DU) SASLP delivered an enlightening talk on how learning can be enhanced through facilitation.
Dr. Piyush Sone, Associate Professor in Speech Language Pathology, BV(DU) SASLP and Mrs. Shweta Deshpande, Assistant Professor in Audiology delivered lecture on how continuous assessments provides the students with a comprehensive report and gives them scope to self-assess and improve on their performance.
Mrs. Shweta Deshpande elaborated on Objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE). She explained that the student will be presented with series of stations which will assess their clinical skills and the examiner will score their skills using a predetermined checklist which will ensure that all the students will be assessed on the same criteria to avoid bias. She explained the concept and steps in OSCE preparation and assessment using the OSCE stations by comparing the traditional methods and OSCE with help of actual videos. The session ignited enthusiasm among the participants, and they decided to gear up for preparations for OSCE stations. Research findings of Indian studies on OSCE including a study by Bhatnagar, Saoji and Banerjee (2011) were disseminated.
Dr. C.S Vanaja Prof and Principal BV(DU) SASLP took the platform to talk about National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Dr. Jayaram M, Former Dean NIMHANS, Former Director All India Institute of Speech & Hearing Mysore, Prof. & HOD ASLP, Sri Devraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research, Kolar was invited as a resource person to talk on the challenges which might come up as we try to incorporate NEP 2020 in the ASLP programs.
