The Biochemistry Section of Central Clinical Laboratory is equipped with state of art equipments for routine as well as special biochemical testing such as automated biochemistry, CMIA, Hb variant analysers, Arterial Blood Gas and Electrolyte analysers. The laboratory is working in routine as well as in emergency hours.
All routine biochemistry and endocrinology tests are under scope of accreditation of National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories as per ISO 15189:2012, (Certificate Number: MC-2181, Issue Date: 08/05/2019 Valid Until: 07/05/2021)
Apart from routine biochemistry test menu, we cater to many special tests like C Reactive Protein, HbA1C, Vitamins, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (Methotrexate), Fertility hormones, Homocysteine, Cortisol, Procalcitonin, etc.
We have initiated New Born Screening Programme (Dried Blood Spot: ELISA) from May 2019 for all in -born neonates (Birth Weight ≥ 2.5 Kg & Gestational age ≥ 34weeks) of BHRC, Pune for screening for the following commonest inherited disorders like Congenital Hypothyroidism, Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Galactosemia and Glucose 6 Phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
We have started testing for Sweat Chloride from February 2021 by chemical method for suspected cases of cystic fibrosis.
As our hospital is a designated COVID 19 care centre, in recent COVID 19 pandemic, we are contributing the battle by testing for all the inflammatory markers like C Reactive Protein, Ferritin, LDH, Procalcitonin. Since these markers play an important role both in deciding the treatment protocol and in monitoring of the patients, these samples are processed round the clock.

Following high –tech equipment’s are available in the laboratory to cater ever increasing patient workload.
