Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) Poona College of Pharmacy , Pune.

For more than 40 years, we are making concentrated efforts to develop our college into Centre of Academic Excellence and Research in the field of Pharmacy.

In appreciation to that the college has achieved, the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) have accorded the most coveted grades to this college. Poona College of Pharmacy is ranked in the top 20 pharmacy colleges by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), consistently. Additionally, the UGC has identified this college under its Special Assistance Programme (SAP) and the AICTE has recognized this college as a centre under its Quality Improvement Programme (QIP). QIP centre aids pharmacy faculty from all over India to enhance their learning by completing their M.Pharm and PhD. Another unique feature of this institution is that it is also an ISO 9001-2015 certified institute.

The separate research wing of 6000 sq. m. well-equipped with latest equipment, specially designed for research is a unique feature of our college. Its continuously enriched library is digitalized, through which the students have access to several national and international journals, as well as reference books.

During the last decade or so, our research-motivated faculty has completed several research projects received from various prestigious funding agencies. The faculty has an excellent research track record that includes about 55 patents, more than 1000 research papers published in international and about 300 papers in national journals of repute. The college also organizes several AICTE FDPs, STTPs, refresher courses/workshops every year. The 8th International Congress of the Society for Ethnopharmacology, India (SFEC 2021) and the 54th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) hosted by our college has been considered as one of the mega events.

At Poona College of Pharmacy, we believe in ‘Interactive Teaching Learning’ with help of pedagogical tools, logical assessment and skill development by offering dynamic education ecosystem for lifelong learning. With inception of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, education has become dynamic to adapt to changes in technology and societal needs. We nurture students to acquire knowledge, hone their professional skills along with thinking abilities to address the real professional challenges.

Along with academics, the overall personality development of students has been our major concern. Our college regularly conducts cultural and sport activities. The Pharmacy Cricket Cup tournament for men and women is one of the major activities initiated in 1986 for promoting academia-industry interactions. Student chapters like IPSOR, ISTE, EBSB, IPA and institute innovation cell like MHRD-IIC, SKiiLD PCP, EDC provides platform for students’ creativity, innovation, start-ups and skill developments. The PCP Alumni association through its unique event, Know Our PCPien (KoP) has connected with large number of alumni globally. Faculty members, NSS Unit and Pharmacy practice students are routinely involved in social activities to promote healthcare and well-being of the public. Our Placement Cell, led by enthusiastic students and faculty, have been reaching out to national and international pharma industries.

Based on our credentials, the Food and Drug Administration [FDA, M.S.] has approved us a Public Testing Laboratory (PTL) for assessment of allopathic, ayurvedic and cosmetic formulations. We also have Centre for Food Testing (CFT), accredited by NABL, APEDA and AGMARK. Our students get exposure and hands-on experience of analysis and quality assessment process in these units. Also, we provide our expertise in terms of consultancies for the betterment of the pharmacy profession. The college has been conducting continuous education programmes for retail pharmacists and FDA officers.

We are aware that although we have achieved a lot, we still have a long way to go. With the cooperation of our illustrious alumni, pharmacy industries, students, faculty and all well-wishers, we wish to sustain and maintain the pace of our progress.
