Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be) University, Poona College of Pharmacy is a pioneer institute in Maharashtra offering a six-year integrated Pharm. D (Doctor of Pharmacy) and three year Pharm.D

Post Baccalaureate course with the goal to provide direct patient care. The department of Clinical Pharmacy was established in August 2009 which is attached to Bharati Hospital and Research Centre, a 1000 bedded tertiary care teaching hospital

with modern and ultramodern healthcare facilities and multispecialty departments. Pharm.D students are trained to develop the skills required to solve the complex medication management problems presented in health care today while providing patient-focused care. It enables the student to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

After completing the Pharm.D (Doctor of Pharmacy) and Pharm.D Post Baccalaureate Program, the student will be able

  • To design, implement, monitor, evaluate, adjust and accept professional responsibility for patientspecific, evidence-based care to promote safe and optimal pharmacotherapy outcomes.
  • To demonstrate skills in monitoring of the National Health Program and schemes oriented to provide preventive and promotive health care services to the community
  • To Identify and implement cost-effective patient care and resource management practices that do not compromise quality of care.
  • To demonstrate leadership qualities to function effectively as a member of healthcare team and manage human, physical and financial resources to support a successful practice
  • To operate and manage medication use systems, policies, procedures and records in accordance with state and federal legal regulations, institutional policies, ethical, social, economic, and professional guidelines.
  • To apply critical thinking skills, including investigation, application, analysis, creativity, synthesis and evaluation, to clinical or other professional problem-solving and decision making.

Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University (BVDU), Poona College of Pharmacy is a pioneer institute affiliated to Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) offering a six-year integrated Pharm D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) program as well as a three-year PB (post-baccalaureate) Pharm D. program, since 2009 in the state of Maharashtra.

The institute occupies state-of-the-art facilities, and is associated with BVDU’s Bharati Hospital (one of the largest teaching hospitals in the country) in metropolitan Pune which is also known as the Oxford of the East. BVDU Poona college of Pharmacy Pharm D. students receive clinical training (after completion of 2 years of core pharmacy curriculum) in the multi-specialty hospital with clinical environment, and in healthcare clinics, providing an exemplary training ground for practice-based pharmacy education, by allowing students to effectively apply their acquired knowledge in clinical settings and gain skills in providing patient-bedside care, ensuring patient-safety, optimizing community health, facilitating regular team communication and collaboration, and quality improvement in all aspects. Throughout the course students also develop skills for working in clinical research organizations. Our department offers students to carry out short / intermediate term research projects which needs to be compiled in the thesis format, which later can be published in the international/national peer-reviewed journals.
