About Department

The department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics is one of the most important departments of the college. The subject of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics is taught from the first year of B.D.S. This branch basically deals with restoration of diseased teeth wherein the focus is to conserve the remaining tooth structure and preserve the natural dentition.

The department is spread over a large area which comprises undergraduate and postgraduate section and preclinical laboratory. The department has a huge preclinical laboratory equipped with phantom head assembly. This assembly includes simulators with artificial jaw and teeth. In the first year and second year, the students are trained to work on these simulators and they perform the operative procedures on ivorine teeth first before they start dealing with the patients.

In the third and final year, once they have become well-versed with the procedures, they could start performing it on the patients. The undergraduate students perform simple operative procedures like Dental Amalgam restorations, GIC restorations etc under supervision and guidance of the faculty. During the internship program, students are given the responsibility of managing more difficult cases such as complex restorations and root canal treatment procedures. These cases are undertaken by the students under the watchful eyes of the faculty members.

The postgraduate section is well-equipped with state-of-the-art and advanced gadgets such as:

Operating microscope
Digital Radiographic Equipment (RVG)
Endosonic devices
Laser equipment
Apex locators
Physiodispenser and recent obturating systems etc.

The postgraduate section is also equipped with a casting laboratory and accessory machines required for casting as well as a ceramic furnace and a luminate furnace for indirect composite restorations. The postgraduate students are trained to perform complicated treatment procedures as well as advanced treatment modalities by adopting an innovative approach.

These modalities include:

Smile designing
Tissue engineering for regenerative procedure
Endodontic surgery and complicated root canal treatment procedures.

Aiming to help the students acquire the latest and the best knowledge, the department has a very well-organized library with all the specialty books. Students and faculty members can make maximum use of this facility. One of the key features of the department is that on a regular basis CDE programme and conferences are organized wherein renowned professionals are invited and they share their knowledge and expertise with the students and faculty members.

The objective of these conferences is to ensure that the faculty and the students are refurbishes with the advanced technologies in our specialty. Another significant aspect of the department is that it has an extremely dedicated, enthusiastic and highly qualified faculty. The expertise and clinical experience of the faculty members is par excellence. The department’s main focus is that the patient should be satisfied with the services provided and the line of treatment given. The department is always on its toes with regards to the quality of the treatment rendered to the patients.
