Moot Court Society
The Moot Court Society is a key student body at NLC that promotes excellence in mooting and advocacy. It
coordinates all mooting activities and organises international, national and in-house moot court and Trial
Advocacy competitions. Students receive training and guidance from faculty, senior peers and legal experts
to build strong mooting skills and represent the college in competitions.
NLC has organised the following moot courts and Trial Advocacy competitions to date:
Justice P.N. Bhagwati International Moot Court Competition on Human Rights
Surana and Surana National Trial Advocacy Competition
Intra-College Moot Court competition for the first-year students.
Intra-College Moot Court competition for the Second, Third, Fourth and final year students.
The Society also conducts selection rounds to choose teams for national and international events.
Workshops on Mooting Skills
The Moot Court Society regularly runs workshops to strengthen students’ mooting abilities. These sessions
involve problem-solving, mock trials and competitive exercises, and are especially helpful for freshers. The
workshops are held throughout the year and tailored to different skill levels, covering topics like
effective use of language, fundamentals of public speaking, fact management, data structuring, framing
contentions and refuting arguments. Students have found these workshops to be very effective in developing
practical advocacy skills.
