Chemical Engineering is a constantly evolving discipline which primarily focuses on development of future sustainable world. Chemical Engineers essentially design and develop the new processes or improve the existing processes in which material and energy inputs are converted into value-added products through chemical, physical, and biological transformations in an optimal way. Chemical Engineers mainly apply the principles of basic sciences interwoven with principles of economics, health and safety, and environmental protection for the welfare of society.
Established in 1984, our department offers undergraduate, postgraduate as well as doctoral programmes. Department is accredited continuously in three cycles in 2005, 2012 and 2018 by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) based on its academic and research excellence. Department provides dynamic curriculum to meet industrial needs and technological advancements in the field of Chemical Engineering. Department has highly qualified and experienced faculty members to impart Chemical Engineering education to the students through best teaching- learning practices. Department has state-of-the-art laboratories to provide conducive environment for practical based learning.
Department is also actively involved in research and development activities in thrust areas like multiphase reactors, bio-chemical engineering, waste water treatment, etc. Research funding, worth ~ Rs. 75 lakhs, has been received by the department from Department of Science and Technology (DST), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP), and Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) in last five years. As a research outcome, department has published 82 research articles and filed 03 patents in last five years, and also developed three elite research laboratories to conduct research in thrust areas of Chemical Engineering.
The leading chemical and allied industries visit to the institute for recruitment of Chemical Engineering students per year. These include Deepak Fertilizers Ltd, Loreal India Ltd, Asian Paints Ltd, Finolex Industries Ltd, Torricid Ltd, to name a few. The average placement of students is over 75% with average salary package of three lakhs in last three years. Department has also consistently won accolades in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as technical presentations in conferences and competitions, sports, and cultural programmes at state and national levels.
