About Department

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Engineering, Pune, is committed to academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and strong industry engagement. The department uniquely integrates the core domains of electrical engineering with emerging areas of computer technologies, preparing students for successful careers in both traditional and modern engineering sectors.

Faculty and students are actively engaged in research in Renewable Energy Systems, Electric Vehicles, Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Internet of Things (IoT) and Cybersecurity. Over the past three years, the department has published more than 150+ research papers in reputed national and international journals and filed 17+ patents. Faculty members also received seed funding exceeding ₹15 lakhs to support innovative projects, reflecting the department’s strong research ecosystem.

The department boasts state-of-the-art laboratories such as the Electric Vehicle Lab, Switchgear & Protection Lab, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Lab, IoT Lab, and High-Performance Computing Lab. These facilities have been established in collaboration with leading industries like L&T, Propellex Solutions, and Sensycon Controls, with investments of more than ₹20 lakhs. Strong industry connects and active MoUs with reputed organizations provide opportunities for internships, sponsored projects, consultancy, and training.

Faculty members continuously upgrade their knowledge through Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, and national/international conferences. Students too have excelled, achieving recognition in paper presentations, project competitions, hackathons, and innovation contests, bringing laurels to the department.

The curriculum, revised in 2023 as per the National Education Policy (NEP), ensures alignment with industry requirements. Along with core courses, it integrates vocational programs, industry-taught modules, MOOCs, in-plant training, and sponsored projects, ensuring students acquire both strong fundamentals and practical skills.

The department is home to an active IEEE Student Branch and the IEEE Industrial Applications Society (IAS) Chapter, which provide global exposure and platforms for professional growth. The student association, ELECSA (Electrical & Computer Engineering Students Association), further enhances student life by organizing co-curricular and extracurricular activities, promoting leadership and teamwork.
