The profession of nursing is a call to duty. Nursing has a key and important role in the delivery of health care services.

Nursing Foundations teaches nursing students how to offer promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health care to patients while upholding principles of compassion, respect, dignity, and self-respect.

The Nursing Foundations department also assists nursing students in understanding the nursing professions code of ethics and professional conduct. The department is in charge of mentoring new nursing students who come through our College's doors. Each year, the faculty serves 50 students.

Their time is dedicated entirely to theoretical and clinical training, monthly performance feedback, and student mentoring and counselling. In groups of ten, students are closely monitored and guided. Teachers present basic nursing operations, which students subsequently practise on each other and on mannequins in the skill lab. Students are allowed to perform these treatments on patients in the clinical area after they have gained confidence. These teenagers are shaped in terms of their physical, mental, social, and spiritual growth. All efforts are directed on ensuring that the student transforms from a "bud to blossom," as the department motto states.
